Abby Shafner

Coach

Abby began her athletic obsession at a very young age. Not only was she determined to keep up with her older brothers during every game of street hockey, soccer and baseball, she was also committed to someday beating them. Throughout high school, Abby's love for sport continued, she played soccer competitively on multiple teams, and was voted captain of the women's soccer team both her junior and senior years. After graduating from UMASS Amherst with a Bachelors in Business Administration, Abby, like so many others, began working behind a desk, in search of something to curb her competitive appetite. After a bit of coercion from her friends, in the winter of 2012, she signed up for her first class at CrossFit Boston and never looked back. Immediately hooked by the inclusive community and competitive atmosphere, Abby quickly realized that this constantly varied, ever-evolving fitness regimen was in fact, her sport (and one she can confidently beat her brothers in!). Abby became a certified Level 1 trainer in 2013, and has been a committed member of the CrossFit community ever since.
